Project of the Month Winner – Truckee Overhead Door
Truckee Overhead Door is a small, locally-owned company in Truckee, CA. They have been in business for 29 years in their Truckee location and 26 years in their South Lake Tahoe location. The two locations serve Truckee, the entire Tahoe basin, the small towns along the 80-mile shoreline, and the following places in Nevada: Reno, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, State Line, and Incline Village.
For this blog post, we interviewed Scott Kessler, the owner of Truckee Overhead Door. Kessler got into the garage door business by way of a friend and co worker’s suggestion. He noticed the amount of construction in town and observed that many of the garage door companies weren’t locally based. Truckee was born out of the necessity for a local garage door company.
Truckee Overhead Door does approximately 85% residential and 15% commercial projects. The most popular Northwest Door products that the company sells are our Flush Wood doors (Models: 148 and 141) and Modern Classics. Mr. Kessler said that Truckee Overhead Door prides itself on “being able to provide unique garage doors to the construction industry and homeowners, helping to improve neighborhoods one garage door at a time, and doing our work with honesty and integrity.”
For this residential project, Scott’s team used two of our Black Anodized Modern Classic doors (Model: MC45 and MC46) with White Laminate Glass. Scott observed that it was interesting to watch the “complete architectural transformation of this house from the 1980s to the 2020s” during the remodel. The builders at MD Construction did an excellent job making the A-frame house look updated and appealing.
Truckee Overhead Door has completed numerous custom installs using our flush wood doors as a base. They own and operate their own woodshop, which, according to Kessler, gives them the ability to “build many one-of-a-kind, unique designs for architects and contractors” by using various materials such as rolled steel, reclaimed wood, and kick plates.
