NWD Manufacturing Plant Sees Great Turnout at Annual Open House

Last Thursday, March 1, Northwest Door hosted our annual open house for garage door dealers and installers at our manufacturing plant in Puyallup, WA. We were very pleased with the turnout of around 80 people, eager to hear about prior and upcoming changes with our products, manufacturing equipment and personnel.

We opened our doors at 9:45 AM, and the majority of our attending dealers showed up for coffee and doughnuts not long after. Next to the doughnut station was Robbie Phillips from our marketing department, who was later joined by Story 2 – the web development company we’ve been working with on dealers’ websites. Everyone mingled for a while until we had enough people at the plant to begin conducting plant tours. Our five tour guides – President Jeff Hohman, Vice President of Manufacturing Bryan Sims, Plant Manager Kurt Kaelin, Commercial Sales Manager Scott Wilson and Quality Assurance Manager Glenn Gruner – conducted 16 different tours with staggered departure times and smaller groups to allow for a supple supply of in-depth tours. They all gave the same basic outline for each tour to ensure everyone got the same experience.

Lunch was served around 11:30 with NWD Engineering Technician Al Perretano manning the grill. Everyone enjoyed a tantalizing feast of bratwursts, grilled onions and peppers, and we had a full ice cream bar operated by Ryanne Shineflew of our purchasing department. Once the crowd had some time to eat and chat amongst themselves for a bit, Bryan Sims and VP Sales Brian Miller gave a presentation to the group about the future of Northwest Door and the benefits of partnering with us.

It wasn’t long after that we began announcing our door prize winners – one LiftMaster 8550W opener, one Haier Cooler/Beverage Center, one Traeger Wood Pellet Smoker, and a 55” Samsung Smart UHDTV! We were extremely pleased with the turnout at this year’s open house, as well as the optimism and positive response of our dealers as we look forward. We’re very happy that a good number of our dealers were able to see firsthand several of our newest investments and how they are helping Northwest Door to always provide the highest quality, shortest lead times and largest selection of garage doors in the industry!
