8 Fun Holiday Garage Door Decoration Ideas

The holidays are quickly approaching and it’s about time to decorate your home inside and out. That means shopping for Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, and all the other decorations to make your holiday season feel special. As you decorate around your home, it’s important to leave no space untouched. Since your garage door takes up a good portion of your home’s exterior, you should consider decorating it too. Here are some fun and unique ideas to decorate your garage door!

1) Big Red Bow, Garland and Wreath

One of our favorite ideas is featured in the photo above. It’s pretty, fun, and easy. The decoration features a bright red bow on the front of your garage, light up garland around the garage trim, and a light up wreath above the garage to add a touch of elegance. This particular bow is magnetic, but you could potentially use vinyl cutouts with a removable adhesive.

2) Snowman

If you prefer cute and festive decor, the snowman kit featured above might be the right choice for you! It comes with die-cut plastic decorations and double-sided tape, which will stick to most steel garage doors. Just make sure not to place the decorations on the moving joints of the garage door to keep your snowman decoration and garage safe.

3) Holiday Mural

Turn your garage door into a holiday mural! Murals are a fun and easy decoration that will impress and inspire your neighbors. The mural featured in the picture above is made of vinyl. It has special top hooks and tension hooks on the bottom to ensure it stays in place and most importantly does not interfere with the function of the garage door. You can order pre-made designs as well as fully customized murals. Garage banners are made by several printing companies, but these particular designs are available at DoorPOP.co

4) Garage Lamp Decorations

You can quickly and easily add holiday decor to your garage lamps to give your home an elegant pop of holiday cheer without being overbearing. Decorations like the ones from Hometalk can be found premade at most craft stores. If you are the more creative type, you can create garage lamp decor with real or fake branches, wire, craft or floral foam, ribbon, and plastic or metal accents. We suggest you stay away from glass to prevent cracks or breaks.

5) Holiday Magnet Fun!

Holiday magnets are a great option if you prefer fun and low-effort decorations! The best part about magnets is that they are easily removable and will not damage your garage door paint. You can get magnets like these from various retailers like Amazon and Walmart.

6) Gingerbread Garage

If you happen to be the super creative type, this gingerbread garage is perfect for you! We could not find DIY instructions on how to do this elaborate decoration, but you might be creative enough to figure out how to duplicate this design yourself. Our best guess is that they used spray painted plywood pieces for the gingerbread base and created the large candy out of painted plastic and polystyrene sheet discs. It looks like they used a white spray expanding foam for “frosting” and then mounted the completed design to the garage.

Snowflake Lights

Installing lights on your home can be a dangerous hassle if not done correctly. LED projection lights allow you to keep both feet firmly planted on the ground, and are a simple plug and play installation. Most models nowadays are weatherproof in certain conditions, and the designs and animation options are quite extensive. These types of lights can be found almost anywhere holiday lighting is sold. This particular model is sold on Amazon.

8) The Grinch stole the lights!

One of the more fun and easy holiday decorations is the Grinch stealing your holiday lights, as featured in the photo above. The only items you need to complete this classic decoration are a string of lights, a Grinch cutout that can be bought on Amazon, and a small spotlight to illuminate the cutout.

Hopefully these ideas will give you the inspiration to go above and beyond with your holiday decorations this year. Make sure to share your creations on social media and tag us so we can see the finished product!
