Project of the Month Winner – December 2016

Greg Anderson (Territory Sales Manager) & Wade Harris (Owner of Stellar Garage Door Solutions)

Our winner for the December Project of the Month contest has been proudly awarded to Stellar Garage Door Solutions for their project at Youngberg Hill Vineyards and Inn in McMinnville, Oregon. This beautiful development sits on a 50-acre hilltop with a breathtaking view of their 28-year old vineyard and surrounding hills. Their indoor/outdoor event center was made possible with 11 of Northwest Door’s dark bronze anodized commercial 800 Series full-view aluminum doors with ½ inch insulated clear glass – eight 10×8 doors that open up to the outside area, one 13×4 that sanctions off the bar counter and two 6x7s in the kitchen. With the doors closed they can accommodate up to 200 guests, but with them open that number goes up to 350. Impressive!

Wade Harris, owner and operator of Stellar Garage Door Solutions in Carlton, Oregon, has fond memories of this project – especially the view. The weather was agreeable the whole time and as you can see from the photos, on a clear day the view is hard to beat.

However, it wasn’t all sunshine and daisies for Stellar. Given only two days to complete the installation, Wade stayed up until 3 AM the second night to see the project through to completion and meet the deadline. An impressive feat like that is sure to bring about a well-earned sense of accomplishment and relief.

After 17 years in the garage door industry, an opportunity presented itself for Wade to be trained and work on garage doors in Montana. He believes that to be successful in any field you should “find one thing and do it really well,” which he’s been doing for three years as Stellar Garage Door Solutions. Wade takes on a pretty even load of commercial and residential projects, but he really prefers anything that forces him to think outside the box. The ability to do custom jobs, use of quality products and quality of craftsmanship is what sets Wade apart from his competitors. “A door’s a door,” he said, “it comes down to the craftsmanship of the installer that makes a difference.” You can see this kind of craftsmanship in many of Stellar’s projects, most recently an outdoor kitchen with two 4-foot doors as windows.

“The part of the garage door industry that I enjoy the most is the people I meet and the places that I go.” Wade loves that he gets to meet people from all walks of life and help them achieve their visions, which is something that you don’t find in your average 9-to-5 job. If you have an idea for a custom project, Stellar Garage Door Solutions is an excellent way to make that happen.
