We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant to be based out of our corporate headquarters in Puyallup, WA. This position provides professional-level accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the general ledger reconciliation, preparation of the month-end close process, journal entries, expense accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, banking activities, and various analyses and reports requested by management. These responsibilities and tasks will be coordinated with and supervised by the Director or Finance.

- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule
- Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures
- Reconcile bank statements
- Prepare general tax reports (sales and personal property taxes)
- Maintain and reconcile fixed assets
- Assist with analyzing financial statements on a monthly basis and report on variances
- Assist with financial and tax audits
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations
- Maintain insurance records (property, auto, worker’s compensation, etc.)
- Assist in documentation and monitoring of internal controls
- Other projects as assigned
Education/Experience: Any combination of education and required skills and knowledge for successful performance may be qualifying:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum 5 years’ accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge: Knowledge of fixed asset control and depreciation, knowledge of manufacturing financial environment that includes cost accounting, labor and material variance reporting, and thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Skill: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in computer applications (specifically Microsoft Office Suite and pivot table use and development). Positively impact performance and teamwork at all levels. Effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment. Analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability: Communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing. Organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities. Recognize discrepancies/errors in written/recorded data/information including the ability to initiate and respond to work errors in a professional manner, working collaboratively and cooperatively with others. Conduct working relationships in a manner acceptable to others and to the organization. Work under demanding time constraints and production goals. Remain effective under stress and work independently. Complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
