Project of the Month Winner – American Garage Door

American Garage Door was started in 1974 by Bob Bonus. In 2004 it was purchased by Steve and Tammy Howard, who now share joint ownership with their son Scott. Their service area is quite large, expanding across the majority of Colorado and even up into Wyoming. “We specialize in custom work and custom homes so we go where we are called,” said Scott in our interview.

The specific home we will be focusing on today is a custom home located in Parker, Colorado in a high-end, modern community built around a golf course. After working with Weatherly Homes (the home builder on the project) for about ten years, American Garage Door has become the “go-to guy” for them. When they started working on the Parker, Colorado project, they wanted a high-end glass door, to which Scott said they always recommend the Northwest Door Modern Classic.

They ended up with four black anodized Modern Classics with insulated frames and Satin Etch glass – two 18’ wide x 8’ high, one 9’ x 8’, and one 6’ x 8’ for the family golf cart. They also installed four LiftMaster 8550W openers, which are great for an increase in performance, security, and connectivity. The home was constructed in about 18 months from start to finish, the doors were installed in a single day and the openers were done the day after that.

As Colorado’s leading company in custom garage door work, Scott really enjoys the variety of innovative, high-end projects they work on to keep things interesting. Their main focus is the quality of work they provide and their customers’ satisfaction. “I’m a 3rd generation garage door guy now, so my grandfather and my father always had a ton of pride in what they did and how they treated people and we like to carry that tradition on,” said Scott. “We have really good personnel that we work with, so everyone gets along and it’s a fun place to work.”
